Smash Hit is a simple idea done very well: you glide down a glowing corridor and throw metal balls at glass. The shattering sound is half the appeal. We wanted that itch scratchable from a browser tab, so we built Shard Rush, a real-time 3D corridor that runs right here on this page. It uses WebGL, draws its own glass, and breaks every pane into physics-driven shards. Free, no download, no signup.
Play Shard Rush now
Tap or click the glass to throw a ball at it. Best played with sound on, using the Sound button in the top bar.
How to play
You start with 30 balls and the corridor moves on its own. Tap or click any pane of glass to throw a ball at that exact spot. Panes in your path must break before they reach you, and each one you crash into costs 8 balls. Floating crystals give 3 balls back, so aim at those too. The run ends when you have no balls left.
Chain hits without a miss to build a streak. At 10 you throw two balls at once, and at 25 you throw three. On a keyboard, move the aim with the arrow keys or WASD and press Space to throw; a mouse works the same way.
Every day has its own corridor, generated from the date, so everyone plays the same run today. Your best score and your daily streak are saved on your device. Nothing leaves your browser.
How it compares to Smash Hit
Shard Rush keeps what makes Smash Hit a loop worth repeating: a fixed forward glide, one action, and a ball count that is both your life bar and your ammunition. Breaking glass feels good because it is immediate. Crystals force you to pick between the safe throw and the greedy one, and a clean streak rewards you with more balls per tap.
It leaves out most of what a full game offers. There are no hand-built rooms with moving obstacles, no checkpoints, no themed levels, no power-ups, and no game modes. Our corridor is generated from a small set of glass layouts, and each day’s run is one endless stretch that gets faster the further you go.
If you enjoy a few minutes in Shard Rush and want designed levels, atmosphere, and a soundtrack that builds with the scenery, play the original. Mediocre’s game is the finished version of this idea, and ours is a free taste.

Frequently asked questions
Can I play Smash Hit in a browser?
Smash Hit is a mobile game, so the original needs an install from an app store. Shard Rush, the game on this page, is our own original take on the same idea and runs in any modern browser on phone or desktop.
Is this the real Smash Hit?
No. Shard Rush is an original game we built, inspired by the glass-breaking loop of Smash Hit. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Mediocre or the publisher of Smash Hit. All graphics and sounds are generated by our own code, and the download links above go to the official app.
Does my score save?
Yes, on your device. Your best score and your daily streak are stored in your browser and restored when you come back. We do not collect or upload anything.
Is it free?
Completely. No ads, no purchases, and no account. Sound is off until you turn it on.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, the game makes no further network requests, so it keeps running if your connection drops. For a proper offline experience with more content, install the original app.
