Fraction Calculator by GK Apps is the app people install the night before a maths test, or halfway through a recipe that calls for 3/4 of a cup plus 1/6 of another. Most of the time you only need one answer and the working behind it. So we built Fraction Bench, a free fraction calculator that runs right here in your browser. No install, no ads, no signup. Change a number and the answer, the steps and the picture all move at once.
Calculate fractions now
It opens with 3/4 + 1/6 already worked out. Tap the plus and minus buttons on any part of either fraction, switch the operation, or flip a sign to go negative. Two extra tabs simplify a fraction and turn a decimal into one.
How to use it
Each fraction has three steppers: whole number, numerator and denominator. Leave the whole number at zero for a plain fraction, or raise it to enter a mixed number like 2 1/3. The sign button makes a value negative. The answer shows as a simplified fraction, a mixed number, a decimal and a percentage, and repeating decimals are marked, so one third reads 0.(3).
Below the answer, the working lists the common denominator, the cross-multiplication or the flip for division, and the greatest common divisor used to reduce. The bars underneath draw A, B and the result on the same scale, so you can see why the sum lands where it does. Dividing by zero gets a plain explanation instead of an error.
Try the daily drill for a quick habit: five questions, the same for everyone that day, answered with the same steppers. Your streak, your inputs and your drill progress stay on your device. Nothing leaves your browser.
How it compares to Fraction Calculator
Fraction Bench keeps the loop that makes the app useful: enter two fractions, pick an operation, read the answer and how it was reached. We also added the visual bars and the decimal-to-fraction tab, which uses continued fractions to find the closest fraction under a denominator limit you choose.
What we left out on purpose is everything that belongs in a phone app: a history of past calculations, a keypad-style layout, and the app shell that works when you are not in a browser at all. We also do not store anything beyond the last values you typed.
Our advice: use Fraction Bench for a one-off sum, a homework check or a quick recipe conversion. Install the app if you do this every day and want it one tap away on your home screen, or if you prefer a dedicated keypad.

Fraction Calculator by GK Apps is free on Android and covers fraction arithmetic and mixed numbers in a dedicated app. For a different kind of maths helper, see our free percentage calculator or the free online calculator that runs on the same page pattern.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add fractions with different denominators?
Find a common denominator, usually the least common multiple of the two denominators, then rewrite both fractions over it and add the numerators. For 3/4 + 1/6, the common denominator is 12, which gives 9/12 + 2/12 = 11/12. The working panel above shows each of those steps for any pair you enter.
How do I divide fractions?
Flip the second fraction and multiply. For 7/4 ÷ 5/6, flip 5/6 to 6/5, then multiply across: (7 x 6) / (4 x 5) = 42/20, which reduces to 21/10. Fraction Bench shows the flip, the product and the reduction, and tells you plainly if the second fraction is zero.
How do I simplify a fraction or work with mixed numbers?
Divide the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor. For 18/24 the GCD is 6, so the fraction becomes 3/4. Enter a whole number plus a fraction to use a mixed number, and the result is also shown as a mixed number whenever it is larger than one.
Can I turn a decimal into a fraction online?
Yes. Open the decimal tab, type a number like 0.375 and you get 3/8 straight away. If the decimal is long, such as 3.14159, set the largest denominator you want and the tool returns the closest fraction that fits.
Is this the official Fraction Calculator app?
No. Fraction Bench is an original tool we built, inspired by the everyday problem Fraction Calculator solves. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to GK Apps. If you want a dedicated app with its own keypad, get it from the store links above.
