Emoji Translate turns whatever you type into a string of emoji, word by word. It is a fun way to spice up a message, and the Android app handles it well, but installing something just to swap a few words for pictures felt like a lot to ask. So we built EmojiSpeak, a free emoji translator that runs right here in your browser. Type a sentence on one side and watch the emoji version appear on the other, live, with a reverse mode that decodes emoji back into words.
Try EmojiSpeak now
Type in the text box and the emoji result updates as you go. Flip the switch to decode emoji back into a best-guess sentence.
How to use it
Type or paste text into the left box on desktop, or the top box on a narrow screen, and the emoji version fills in on the other side as you go, no button to press. EmojiSpeak recognizes a few hundred everyday words and short phrases, from feelings and food to animals and weather, and swaps each one for an emoji. Anything it does not recognize is left as plain text rather than guessed at, so the result stays honest about what actually got translated.
Flip the switch above the boxes to reverse the direction: paste an emoji message in and get a best-guess sentence back. Tap “Copy result” to grab the exact text or emoji shown, ready to paste into a chat. The counters underneath track how many characters and emoji are in play as you type. Your last message is saved on your device between visits, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
How it compares to Emoji Translate
EmojiSpeak keeps the part of Emoji Translate that makes it worth using: type normal words, get an emoji version back, instantly and without menus. We built our own word-to-emoji dictionary from scratch, covering common vocabulary across feelings, food, animals, weather, and everyday actions, and we added a reverse mode that the original app does not offer, decoding an emoji message back into words.
The full Emoji Translate app leans further into the format. It can save and share translated messages directly from the app, keep a history of past conversions, and it is tuned to sit inside your phone’s keyboard flow so you can translate as you message someone else. It also tends to cover a wider spread of slang and edge-case phrases, since it has been refined against real user input over time.
We left out message history and keyboard integration on purpose. Reading or writing to your keyboard needs native permissions a browser tab should not request, and a session-based tool with nothing saved beyond your last message keeps the whole thing simple and private. If you want a quick one-off translation, EmojiSpeak is the faster path. If you want emoji translation built into how you already text, the app is the better fit.

Frequently asked questions
Can I translate text to emoji online without downloading anything?
Yes. EmojiSpeak runs entirely in this page. Type a sentence and it turns into emoji live, with no install and no account needed.
Is this the official Emoji Translate app?
No. EmojiSpeak is an original tool we built, inspired by the word-to-emoji translation that Emoji Translate does well. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the makers of Emoji Translate. For keyboard integration and message history, get the official app from the store above.
Does EmojiSpeak work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, translating text keeps working without a connection. Your last message is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device only.
Can it decode emoji back into words?
Yes. Flip the switch above the text boxes to reverse mode, then paste or type an emoji message. EmojiSpeak matches emoji it recognizes against its dictionary and gives you a best-guess sentence back. It is a guess by nature, since more than one word can share the same emoji.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free with no signup and no limit on how much you translate.
