How to play
Click or tap any column to drop a disc into the lowest open slot. On a keyboard, use the left and right arrow keys to move between columns and press Enter or Space to drop. The board starts empty, you always go first, and turns alternate automatically with the computer opponent.
Line Rise has two modes. Quick play is a straight match against the computer, with an Easy or Hard difficulty toggle and a win streak tracked at the top of the board. Daily puzzle drops you into a specific board position generated from today’s date, where a forced win exists within a set number of moves. Everyone who opens the puzzle that day sees the same position, and your solve streak is saved separately from your quick play streak. Both streaks live in your browser’s local storage. Nothing leaves your device.
How it compares to Four in a Row - Connect Online
Line Rise keeps the part of the original that actually matters: a seven-column grid, alternating turns, and the tension of building your own line while watching for the opponent’s. The AI plays for real too. It checks for an immediate win or an immediate block before every move, then runs a proper search several moves deep, so it isn’t a coin flip dressed up as an opponent. The daily puzzle is new territory beyond a straight port. It gives you a concrete tactical position and a move count to beat, which the mobile app does not offer.
What we left out is everything that turns a grid game into a full app. There is no real online multiplayer here, so you always play the on-device computer rather than another person. There are no ranked ladders, no cosmetic disc skins, no ads, and no account system. It is one board, one strong opponent, and one daily puzzle, stripped down to the mechanic itself. Is the AI actually hard to beat?
On Hard difficulty, yes. The opponent always takes an available winning move and always blocks an obvious threat, then searches several moves ahead to pick the strongest response beyond that. Easy difficulty uses a shallower search and more variety in its choices, so it is beatable without being careless.
